Beta-alanine is a non-protein amino acid that is endogenously produced in the liver. We humans obtain beta-alanine amino acid by eating foods such as poultry and meat. But by itself, the synergistic properties of beta-alanine are limited.
β-alanine has been identified as the rate-limiting precursor for carnosine synthesis, and it has also been shown to increase carnosine levels in human skeletal muscle.
